How to set up printing with Skrym

This page explains what you need to do in order to set up the label printing to work with Skrym.

  1. Log into Scope and create a Printnode account for your organization. We suggest creating one per warehouse location.
    • An account name can be max 16 characters long
    • This is currently done on TMS > Admin page
    • Only admins can do this for their organization
    • Make sure to store your login details to Printnode as Skrym will not store this for you
  2. Download the Printnode Client from their website.
    • There is a potential for us to build a "branded" version of the client if we want
    • They have versions for most operating systems, but we have mainly tried it with Mac
  3. Install and open the Printnode Client
    • You will need to log in with the account you created in step 1
    • You will need to allow printnode to access keystroke events on your computer
  4. Log into the Printnode client using the login details you entered when creating the account in step 1
  5. Add the printer you want to use
    • Make sure to first connect the printer to the computer and change the name of the printer on the computer, as this will propagate to Printnode
    • For Mac
      • When adding the printer on a Mac, go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners > Add Printer/ Scanner or Fax and choose the label printer you have connected.
      • In the "Use" field, make sure to choose the driver needed, normally "Select software" > Zebra ZPL Driver.
      • You can add a printer by clicking the "Add Printer" button in the Printnode client
    • You can also add a printer by going to the Printnode website and adding a printer there
  6. The printer and computer should now appear in Scope on the TMS > Admin page
  7. Now try to make a booking and then print the label from the shipment page
  8. If using through an external system like Ongoing, you may need to add a computer alias for the printer to enable matching the request from Ongoing to the correct printer.
Troubleshooting
  • If your printer doesn't seem to print the right size for the label, you may need to explicitly set the label size for the printer output in Printnode
  • To set the size, open the the Printnode client and just write the length and width in inches in the fields
