Categories
Configuring hierarchical product organization
At Skrym, we provide you with the flexibility to organize your products into hierarchical categories so they stay properly classified and managed throughout your operations.
We also support product attributes, which work similarly to categories but for specific product properties. See Product Attributes for more information.
Organization categories
You can define any of your own product categories that are specific to your organization. A product can then be assigned to one or more of these categories which can be used for rules and filters throughout Skrym.
Product categories can be used in the following places throughout our system:
- As a threshold in checkout strategies
- Package selection rules for optimization
- Filtering when viewing and exporting products
- Analytics and reporting
Hierarchy behavior
Product categories support flexible hierarchical organization with the following characteristics:
- A product can belong to multiple categories simultaneously
- Child category assignments automatically inherit to all ancestor categories
- Filtering on a parent category includes all descendant categories
- Categories work alongside product attributes for multi-dimensional organization
How to configure
Automatic product sync
For the product sync integrations we support, we can automatically create categories and assign products to them based on the data from your PIM/ERP system. See Product Data Integrations for more information on available integrations. If your PIM or ERP system is not supported by us, please reach out to us at Skrym support or in Slack.
